Adams was born and was raised in Castle Rock Colorado, as the youngest of seven children. Her father served in U.S. service in Italy. Then, in the latter part of 1990s, she began to act and dance professionally in Boulder's Dinner Theatre and Country Dinner Playhouse. Then she moved to an area theatre located in Minnesota which was where she got her first role as a character in a film mock documentary concerning beauty pageants Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999). After her screen debut that was successful with the role of an annoying but pleasant contestant, Janet moved into Los Angeles where she began professional acting. Her husband Tony Curtis was her partner from June 1950 to September 1992. Her children included, Kelly Curtis as well as Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh's film career began when she signed an MGM contract in the late 1940s. The actress was discovered by actress and model Norma shearer. In the 1960s, Leigh starred in a variety of films, such as Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho and Living It Up.
